Greenway Principal Dave Gauch

Greenway Elementary opened its doors in 1917 to house students in grades one through nine. At the time there was only one building, which still stands today. Two more wings were built over the next few years. In 1952, the auditorium and four more classrooms were built. A new cafeteria was added in 1982 and a library in 1990.

Today, Greenway Elementary has programs for PreK-5 and special needs students. It also offers classes in art, music and PE. There is a fully functioning computer lab and a mobile computer cart with a class set of netbooks. Several classrooms house and utilize interactive whiteboards.

The newest addition to Greenway Elementary is the community garden which the students, teachers and community members tend. Each classroom has a garden bed where the students are able to grow and eat vegetables, such as squash and tomatoes. There is even a worm bed! The garden project is incorporated with the reading, writing, math and science state standards.

Teachers and staff members at Greenway Elementary are diligently working to prepare the students for life outside the classroom. Every day, the students are immersed in rigorous core academics along with courses taught by certified art, music and PE specialists. Through professional development programs, the dedicated teaching staff is constantly growing to expand their pedagogy. At Greenway Elementary, we have high expectations for both the students and staff members.

Thank you to everyone who has made Greenway Elementary GREAT!

Mr. Gauch,
Principal
